Becoming a member is easy with the following steps:
- Register on MyTurn
- Purchase a membership
- Submit a reservation
- Collect the game
- Play, return and repeat!
We’ll ask you to bring a form of ID and confirmation of your current address the first time you come to borrow a game. That’s it!
We ask you to reserve games in advance: once you are a member, you can reserve games via MyTurn. We recommend submitting reservations beforehand, to be sure the game is available for loan. We are open for collections and returns every Thursday, 6pm-8pm. Loans are for either 7 or 14 days.
You can borrow three games at once.
You can borrow games for 7 or 14 consecutive days. You can choose this when making a booking on MyTurn.
We ask you to try to enjoy the game within your loan period, so that someone else can enjoy it after you! However, if you need to renew, email us by 11pm on the Sunday before your return date. If the game hasn’t been reserved, we’ll try to renew it for you.
If you are unable to come in person to pick up/drop off a game for collection/return during our opening hours, we may be able to arrange delivery/collection by cargo bike through our friends at Farr Out Deliveries. There will be a charge for this, likely £3-£5 depending on where in Edinburgh you are based. Please get in contact by email to arrange this.
If you realise you are unable to return a game on time, please get in contact as soon as possible – we may be able to arrange collection via FarrOut deliveries for a small fee.
Any game that is returned late means another member is unable to enjoy it. So late games are charged late fees.
If you miss the Thursday return slot and another member is therefore unable to take the game out, the late fee is £5, and £5 for any subsequent week. These late fees are charged per game.
If you lose a piece, or notice a piece is missing, please let us know as soon as possible by email, so we can try to make sure the game is complete for the next person who borrows it.
If you lose a game, you will be charged for the cost of a replacement. If you damage a game to the point that it is no longer playable, you will be charged for the cost of a replacement.
Edinburgh Board Game Library is located in the ground floor of 141 Lauriston Place, EH3 9JN.
The entrance is step free and the doorway is wide enough to easily move cargo bikes in and out.
If you have accessibility questions, please contact us. We want to make sure that our service is as accessible as possible.
No, sorry! We do not have a permanent presence at 141 Lauriston Place – the building is used by other organisations at other times. Please do not come in person outside of our opening times.
Yes please! Please email us with the subject line “donation”, including the following details: the name of the game, the condition it is in, and whether there are any missing pieces. We are also looking for dice and full packs of cards.
Great! Please email us at email@example.com
